Kevin and Bean Announce the Grammys!

posted Monday, 9 February 2004

Ralph ribbed Kevin and Bean the whole show about their "announcer voices" on the Grammy telecast. "You guys announced the HELL out of that show!"  He played hilarious clips, like Bean saying "...and then, funk breaks loose all over the place", "All hail Queen Latifah!", "In da house, it's Snoop Dogg and Jason Alexander!", and "Don't you DARE go away" in the most dorky white-man voice you've ever heard.

Amusing story: at the beginning, during a mike check, Kevin, trying to be funny says, "Asshole John Carter Cash".  The director admonishes him, informing him that the entire stadium of 10,000 people heard all just that!  Kevin, while scared that they were going to kick him out at that moment, thought it funny that here is John Carter sitting in the audience, already sad that both his recently-passed parents couldn't be there, the announcer guy (whom he doesn't know) is suddenly calling him an asshole!  Ha!

An Afro Line caller said that when Bean announced Marg Helgenberger, they might as well have gotten Stephen Hawking's voice box to do it!

In summary, they did a really good, un-Kevin and Bean job of announcing the show.  Unlike them because a.) they didn't screw up, and b.) it was so fake, stiff, and affected.  For K&B fans, it was hilarity that will be replayed over and over again for the rest of their careers.
