7/21/08 - The KROQ Shop, Douchebag Wooers, Batman's Big Weekend, and John Henson

posted Monday, 21 July 2008

Listen to all of today's segments at the K&B Archive.

7:12 - The KROQ Shop
KROQ was THE last radio station to get a website and one of the last to get online streaming. So it is fitting that now that the Internet retail industry is just about dead, they have launched the KROQ online store. Lightning  - who is now devoted to the KROQ websites full time - came in to give details.

Kevin got him to sneak in a t-shirt of the Rodney-smoking-a-pipe picture that comic artist Paul Lee drew (for a listener's tattoo), but Lightning was fearful of that, since:

a.) They never ran that by management, who was sure to give them hell for it (Lightning feared for the wrath of Mr. Weatherby)

b.) Rodney was sure to complain, and

c.) They never got permission from Paul himself (although Kevin noted that all proceeds would go to his wife's charity).  Sure enough, as of this afternoon, I see no sign of the very-limited edition Rodney shirt. Here's Paul's awesome drawing though.

7:25 - Frank Shamrock
CBS' MMA analyst talked about the network's broadcasting of the EliteXC fights in primetime TV.

8:12 - Listener Call-In: Super Arrogant Douchebags Who Pursued You
Last week, the boys played the super arrogant phone message left by some douchebag named Dmitri as he tried to get some girl named Olga to go out with him. They played the clips again, and Lisa noted that these kind of guys are far more common than you might think. Female listeners called in with their stories of being wooed by these borderline-psycho pricks.

8:45 - Ralph Character: Batman's Opening Weekend
The Dark Knight enjoyed the biggest opening weekend in the history of movies, and Batman himself called in. Kevin accidentally let it slip that Bruce Wayne was his alter ego, which caused Batman was enraged that Kevin revealed that secret to the world. Batman also agreed with Kevin, thinking he coulda landed a hotter gal than Maggie Gyllenhaal.

9:12 - John Henson
Ralph's twin - and former host of E!'s Talk Soup - is back on TV as the host of NBC's hit show Wipeout. You know the show - the one with people falling off the giant inflatable balls into water. Well, it's nearly #1 show in America. Of course, Kevin loves the show, especially the one with the guy vomiting on the dreaded spinner. Good times.

John also recalled back in 2001 when he auctioned himself for $49.95 on the Kevin and Bean Show. He had intended to use film a pilot that wasn't even airing. auctioned. 3 parties, filmed. inspired The John Hensen Project.

Tomorrow: Seth Green, peeping toms, people who dress up their pets and themselves.

So I got home and read the email from Kevin and Bean about the 'limited edition' and I fell for it. Well, I placed an order anyway even though it said "Sold Out" across the picture of the black shirt. I ordered white though, so we'll see if it comes. The damn shipping costs almost as much as the shirt too! As Skimbo said, the Rodney shirts were apparently sold out because there was no option to 'Add to Cart' as there was with the K&B shirts. Funny thing is, their shirts had no mention of Kevin and Bean, just that both of them would sign the shirt.
