7:12 - Cool Electronics Toys
Jim Berry, spokesperson for the CES, talked about cool gadgets and technologies available soon, like a tiny HD camcorder, HDTVs,
the RCA Small Wonder camcorder (less than $125), high-def DVD (Jim predicts it will be a couple years until one format is decided upon), and Microsoft's "iPod killer" the Zune. Kevin tried to get him to leave his bag of goodies behind, to no avail.
7:55 - Ralph Movie Beat
The Night Listener - Robin Williams goes into serious role again, which Ralph doesn't care for. Then again, he doesn't care for him in comedy role either... In this one, Robin plays a radio host who develops an intense, disturbing relationship with a young boy. Based on Bean's life!
The Descent - 6 girls go spelunking! Ralph was thrilled about it, until he finally realized that it was a horror movie, and NOT hot lesbian porn.
"Who wants to hear 6 girls screaming for 2 hours??"
Barnyard - Animated farm animals talk and party.
"At least it's not talking ANTS again! For the kids."
Talladega Nights - Ralph and Kevin actually saw this, and both loved it. In fact, Ralph felt it was Will Ferrell's funniest movie yet, with big laughs from the very beginning to the end. And by the end, he means, stay through the credits. And he wasn't raving about it just because in the next room was...
8:10 - Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell joked with the guys, and talked about the making of
Talladega Nights, his problems with getting Anchorman made, how he saw K&B at Kokomo's in Irvine way back in 1990 (any old-timers remember that appearance? Kevin recalled peeing the bushes and getting kicked out!); how Jed the Fish DJd his prom at University High in Irvine, and his new figure skating movie, Blades of Glory. Listeners also called in with their questions.
9:00 - Ralph Showbiz Beat
Ralph recalled how he used to hang out with Will 10 years ago, when he lived a block away from him, both doing Groundlings stuff, and marvelled at how weird it was to see someone he knew get so big. Bean noted that there was no danger of anyone on the K&B show ever getting that big! Kevin tried to make Ralph feel better by pointing out that Will doesn't have his own Showbiz Beat segment! I don't think it helped.
Star Jones is threatening to sue anyone reporting that she and Al are breaking up.
"Not us! We're on your side. Or the side of your lawyers..."
Paris Hilton is claiming again that she's not going to have sex for a year.
"Maybe she'll still give a blumpkin or 2, though..."
A 4th Die Hard movie is coming, called "Live Free or Die Hard".
9:14 - Dawan and Intern Cara
Dawan was recently upset when 'skintern' Cara didn't know who he was when he called up for What is Your Deal (he was claiming Drew Barrymore had naked pictures on her own official website). Dawan then went on
Dave's MySpace page, and called Cara nasty names. The boys informed Dajuan that she had been reprimanded harshly, and Cara apologized to him directly. Dajuan accepted it. They also suggested that Dajuan try to 'hit that' with Cara, but again, he responded with his usual, distracted: "Ok." Kevin and Bean, Healers - next stop, Lebanon!
9:27 - Serena Williams
The tennis star was excited to call in, as it turns out she's a fan of U2, Radiohead, and Green Day. She will be playing at the Chase Open at Home Depot Center next week. And guess who also called in? Yup, Money! The ex-sports guy who is obsessed with her asked her out, point blank, and she accepted! Unfortunately, her cell phone then suddenly died! The boys pointed out that this was exactly like when Mike Ditka hung up on Money, and they gleefully replayed the clip. They blamed Money for scaring her off. which Serena joked was indeed the case when she finally called back. Money didn't help his cause when, in a final attempt to win her heart, he claimed he was wearing her famed tight, pink, cat-suit.
9:43 - What is Your Deal?
A girl needed a ride to Arizona to visit her kids. The boys sarcastically observed that her life was quite good - that she didn't even have bus fare to visit kids she doesn't live with! They then found out that the kids' dad had died.
"Boy, this is nothing but positive." Bean, fearful of getting involved in any legal issues, suggested she use Craigslist to find her ride instead. Out of the blue, Ralph then asked her how long been she has been in recovery? "
75 days." "How did I know? I could do Loveline!"
A guy's friend, a worker at a gym, pulled his own version of Psycho Mike's iPod Police, telling a big dude at the gym that he was fining him for listening to Duran Duran. The friend then got fired, causing the boys to chastise him:
"Leave that to the professionals! He has hasn't been trained! You can't have iPod vigilantes going around!" Mike threatened to give HIM a ticket for impersonating an iPod Officer. Bean then noted reading an article about how thousands of little children in China manufacture iPods because their hands are small, bumming everyone even further.
Yet more bad times: a guy whined about how a trash man drove off because he couldn't reach the guy's can with the mechanical claw. The boys chastised him for whining about it.
And the final straw: a guy ranted how he pulled into the far parking space of an end-to-end space, intending to face out. He got halfway, and saw a woman trying to pull into his intended space, and got mad at
her when she tried to make him back up! The boys pointed out he was 100% in the wrong, and a quite a lazy jerk too. He angrily hang up. Sigh, what a loser! Way to take us in to the weekend on a high note, guys!
Monday: Dog the Bounty Hunter and Beth (I'd be afraid if I were you, Kevin), the real Gene Simmons (Lisa layer up), Bean's Blog, Roland on Who Wants to be a Superhero, and Ralph from Beautiful Cleveland Ohio.
Have a great weekend, and Don't Bogart That Joint, My Friends!
