Some sweet winter ratings news, from the LA Times. Take THAT Seacrest and Dees!
"...KFI's Bill Handel and Rush Limbaugh combined to take top honors again with 4.9% of the audience, but KROQ's irreverent "Kevin and Bean" show made gains. The long-time L.A. duo rolled by Ryan Seacrest of KIIS, placing second among English-language programs and increasing its audience share from 4.4% to 4.6%
Rick Dees, who returned to local morning radio last September, continues to struggle at his new station, KMVN-FM (93.9), despite heavy advertising. The onetime king of drive-time at KIIS improved from 32nd place overall last quarter to 26th. His numbers rose from 0.9% to 1.2%."

6:25 - Listener Call-In: Shortest Marriages
In the news, actors Jennifer Esposito and Bradley Cooper have divorced after just FOUR months of marriage. They invited listeners to call in with their stories. I missed most of the segment, but did hear the last guy talk about being married for just ONE WEEKEND! After dating for 6 months, they got married on a Friday, moved in together, then moved out on Monday.
"Just didn't work out," he said, in the understatement of the year. The boys deduced that, after listening to him, it clearly wasn't because it was HER fault...
7:20 - Peter Krause
The actor from Six Feet Under talked about his new movie,
Civic Duty, a thriller (in limited release) in which he plays a man who believes his Muslim neighbor is a terrorist and becoms obsessed with him.
7:43 - Game: Orchestra de la Rossa
Maestros Psycho Mike and Dave used their voices to 'sing' Linkin Park songs Ralph Harmonic Orchestra-style, which listeners had to identify for Weenie Roast tickets. Bean, they actually weren't that bad, but their enthusiastic wailing ended up giving many a headache. Bean requested they never play this game again.
8:20 - Ralph's Movie Beat
Waitress - Felicity's Keri Russell plays a waitress (duh), who is also...a "pie genius". Pie Genius is also playing the side stage of Weenie Roast
Lucky You - Eric Bana plays a dude named - get this - "Huck Cheever." He's an aggressive gambler who's conservative in his love life, then learns an important lesson when he meets Drew Barrymore. This movie's release has been delayed for years, then put up against Spider-man 3, which they obviously do for ALL the very best movies, as Ralph pointed out.
Civic Duty - Peter Krause harrass a neighbor whom he thinks is a terrorist, and becomes obsessed with him. Ralph pointed out that Kevin was going totally going to be him one of these days. Kevin saw the movie, and liked it.
Spider-man 3 - Our favorite web-head goes against The Sandman, Venom, and the Green Goblin's son. Reviews are mixed, but looks like great Spidey fun as usual.
8:34 - Sugar Shane Mosley
Would you believe that a world title boxing champ, arguably still in his prime, has become but a sparring partner for another fighter? How about a fighter whom he has actually beaten TWICE?? Sugar Shane called in to talk about helping to train Oscar De La Hoya for his big fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. this weekend, as well his own career. He hopes to have a shot against Floyd himself later this year.
9:04 - Ralph Character: Dubya Snubbed
Time came out with their list of the
100 Most Influential People in the World. It had one glaring omission: the leader of the free world, George Bush! Even people like Borat, Justin Timberlake, Cate Blanchett, and Barack Obama made the list. Naturally, Dubya wasn't pleased.
9:17 - Nick's New Drive to Succeed
Bean got an email from window-licking sign holder Nick this morning, and was surprised by its intensity. Apparently, Nick is 22 and has decided to vigorously persue getting laid within the month. But, he also decided on some other life goals: writing a screenplay, getting married, and having a career in the movie business. But first things first: the sex. Nick's only plan was to get a girl drunk, but Bean suggested that perhaps date rape wasn't exactly the way to go. Ralph suggested he just buy a hooker, and the gang all offered to pitch in. But Nick then revealed a surprising bit of news that caught everyone off guard: he has been cast for
an MTV reality show about male virgins! So stay tuned for more news about Nick.
Tomorrow: a recap for the De La Hoya/Mayweather fight, and Alison Hanigan.
Have a great weekend, and don't bogart that joint, my friends!
